I love MythBusters
If you’ve never seen the show MythBusters on the Discovery Channel, you really don’t know what you’re missing. Simply put, Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman (and crew!) bust and prove myths from the common to the bizzare in the most amazing and hilarious ways possible–all in the name of science of course. It’s almost as if two of the kids from Mr. Wizard’s World grew up (minus those weird really short shorts from the late 1970’s and early 1980’s.. which I still occasionally see people wearing *shiver*) and are slowly and surely taking over the world, one science experiment at a time. I don’t think you can claim yourself to be a geek without an appreciation of MythBusters.
The Sneeze has a great interview with Adam Savage from MythBusters. Although, I don’t think I’ve ever been to The Sneeze before, with amazing content like this, I might have to become a regular.
The interview discusses how MythBusters came to be, how Adam and Jamie met, Adam’s family, and most importantly all of the gay fan mail that they’ve received:
Does he mind that people are often curious about his orientation?
When the show first started airing, Jamie and I both got a lot of gay fan mail. He got a little upset at first, and his wife pointed out “Jamie, take the compliment! Someone thinks you’re really hot! It’s okay if it’s a man.” And he was cool with that, and relaxed about it.
At some point in there, he got an email that said “I want to suck that mustache right off your face!” (LAUGHING)
And I also got what I consider a great piece of writing in addition to the most over the top gay fan mail I got where someone said, “I love you on the show. Your personality is so nutty and sweet. (Like peanut brittle.) And hopefully just as hard.” (LAUGHING)
I don’t know about you, but I think that’s pretty damn funny
Part 2 of the interview is supposed to be in the works, so stay tuned to The Sneeze for more.
Also, I just googled up an interview of Jamie featured on Joe-Mammy.com (another site I’ve never been to, but they even have a Bruce Campbell interview!!).
It’s funny how well Adam and Jamie’s personalities come through, even in text. That’s probably why they work so well, together on MythBusters. You have both ends of the personality pole, but with a little evil genius mixed in on either side.
Update: Check out this post for additional MythBusters goodness.
