I often discover little quirky things on the Internet (with a capital “I” my friends) that I would never have thought of otherwise.
We all know the phrase “lo and behold” (or so I thought)..
I was reading a mailing list that shall remain unnamed for no real reason, and I noticed that someone had used the phrase “woah and behold.” Now, first of all, whoa is spelled w-h-o-a (old pet peeve, right Jim? Sorry :]). Secondly, wtf? I know “lo” isn’t a common word, but.. yeah. I don’t get it. So, anyway, on to Google!
I did a little testing:
So.. I guess people are nuts, and I have a bunch of useless pet peeves.
Before The Great Content Losing of 2005 here at gonad.org (also before the wonders of WordPress!), I had compared the use of “prom” and “the prom.” Like “I went to prom” compared to “I went to the prom.” Using Google, I compared many-a phrase like this, but I can’t remember the results, so it was a bit pointless to mention it! Anyway! I feel the word “prom” should always have “the” in front of it in these sentences, unless of course you’re an English-speaking European. Then you can say crap like “After I went to prom, I attended university, but found myself in hospital! I think it’s time I go on holliday!” and just sound cultured.

Updated 10/26/05 to add more, thanks to señor tReP!
I should make some special css for my DOOT DOOT DOOT update markers! Harr!
I just realized that as soon as Google picks up this page, the results will be slightly higher. This is the price I pay for doing cutting edge science research.
Also, since I’m too lame to come up with a new poll topic, this post will have to it. Vote in the sidebar! VOTE! VOOOTE YOU HEATHENS! I’m trying out the features that lets people add options.. feel free!

Just in case you’re using Firefox, and happen to have a problem hearing embedded sounds, here’s what to do:
Greetings and salutations, on behalf of all former gamers and CMNers. I’m a gamer whose lost touch with the games. Its true, I left the scene to explore other aspects of my own journey. Since leaving oh about 2 years ago, I’ve managed to put on 50 LBs (mind you i was a buck forty) by working out and eating right, I’ve been promoted at work, I’ve started graduate school, I’ve been in a loving and committed relationship (with a girl) for a year or so, i’ve grown mentally, i’ve grown spirtually. Alot has changed, but I’m not tooting my own horn or singing the praises of positivity that have governed my life (sidenote: that is fun though:).
I associate alot of these changes to gaming. It wasn’t the strats, it wasn’t pwning nOObs, or anything associated with the actual structure of game play. It was the people who openly let me become a part of their lives. It was the people who gave a part of their soul to the community b/c in turn they got satisfaction and happiness. The hours of work put into dlb came from multiple sources of my being. It involved the brain, the body, and most importantly the soul. W/e I gave, I gave from my being, and i felt the positive energy as it was given. In turn I grew in many ways, dlb (along with everything positive in my life – parents, education, etc) launched me to become the man I am today. Straight, but not scared to offer some buttsex for the homies (only a true dlber will get that).
dLB let me see the good in alot of people, it inspired me, and I love dLb and its community for it. One of the essays I wrote for graduate school was on dlb and how it made me realize that I wanted to lead a positive movement.

Administering the game server came naturally to me; in fact I found it quite magical. I in conjunction with a strong foundation of individuals was able to build something, and it flourished during my time and has continued to grow in my absence. I look back at this time as a monument; looking forward to my career as a manager I envision having the ability to establish administrative program that is much more magical than a popular gaming server started by a group of computer nerds.

I can’t imagine something else being more magical than dLB, but I’ll try.

Quizzes are like writing something to post, but in a more cop-outish sort of way, ya dig? Obviously I had some interest in the subject of the quiz, as I completed it, but to what extent? That is the question that will keep you enthralled and wanting more.
So much for the cop-out. I just wanted to throw a couple new MythBusters links up here. Please check out my original post, “I love MythBusters,” if you haven’t already
Joe from Joe-Mammy.com was nice enough to drop me a comment about another interview featured on his site with MythBusters’ Kari Byron. Be sure to also check out Kari’s website to view some of her sculpture/doll work. It’s friggin’ cool.
I’m also happy to report that The Sneeze has the second part of their Adam Savage interview up. It’s a little shorter, but there’s still plenty good questions in this one. Very enjoyable in any case.
Realistically, how long could you survive in a fight with Jamie?
(LAUGHING) Wow! I’ve never been asked that. I once got asked who would win, us or the American Chopper guys and I said I thought Jamie could give Paul Tuttle a run for his money.
An American Chopper/MythBusters crossover would be… no less than extremely amazing. I don’t think cable TV works that way, though
