Yeah, we still have no content.

Soon after the top-most post on this page, due to a catastrophic, world-ending event (the server ran out of disk space due to my needless image uploading page.. that ironically had outlived this non-content until now), the follow posts were lost to the past.

Luckily, I’m stupid, so it didn’t occur to me until a few weeks ago that there would be a google cache of the archive page. So, um, here it is, badly formatted with broken links and images for your viewing pleasure!

On a side note, please sign up for an account and post something! I would very much appreciate it :)

alien hackers

Posted Wednesday, October 13, 2004 by slut

clearly the alien hackers are from like 70 million years ago and have been living in their spaceship at the bottom of the ocean. their spaceship is powered by solar energy (and lightbulbs) and eventually turns into a really cool-looking monster. yeah.

anyway. it’s all a part of probably one of the best godzilla movies ever made (except it left out pork and the leprechaun boot). i got the dvd for $5. imagine a godzilla movie with a budget over 2308432098 yen and a computer.

mmmm godzilla. for the record i love godzilla and named my penis after her (since godzilla is a girl).

Episode 1 - Pork For President

Pork the Monkey seems to be angrilly standing on a space ship of hackers (from the future?) who are also somewhat angry. Godzilla is rather content, although a bit bewildered.

…yeah, I don’t really get it either. Thank AJ for the inspiration.

i see amish people

Posted Sunday, September 12, 2004 by slut

yes that’s right. i went to the amish homestead, known by some as kraft’s house. to my amazement it was dark at night and light during the day. i tried to leave all traces of technology behind me as to not startle the timid amish with my stupendous magic powers, but i quickly discovered they had a dark secret of their own! that’s right my friends, evil voodoo magic in the form of tarot cards. it seems that the darkness of kraft’s house is a reflection of his soul and he now spends his time practicing his witchcraft, or witchkraft if i was retardedly witty.

speaking of kraft and evil tarot stuff http://www.webtarot.de/images/die_Kraft.jpg

I’ve never bothered linking the weird stuff I have scattered in various directories on this domain. so here’s a few interesting tidbits:

what the fuck is this shit? - a very odd turn of events drive me insane.

the adventures of ninja dude - what more can I say? check out this thrilling adventure.

checkers-shadow illusion - I found an image of an optical illusion, and made a 2 movies proving it (sort of). one of the movies has music and naked women (sort of).

ninja vs. worm - some excellent stop motion animation that my friend Bill and I made at college. I added the music later out of boredom.

turtles - happy together - a music video for that tune, created in Fractal Painter with inspiration from my good friend AJ (who has an account to post stuff here, but never does, the whore).

note: for the movies you the DivX video codec.

oh man I thought of a few more things I could include:

my AIM subprofile - I post oddly entertaining converastions and links here. it’s used at my AIM subprofile. yeah.

RIT picture gallery - some pictures from 2000-2002, of some of my friends from college. I know people love looking at pictures of people they don’t know. and I know I love showing them to random people, while technically invading my friends’ privacy without warning, mmm..

the agony.. >_<

Posted Wednesday, March 10, 2004 by justin

I buy a lot of cheap DVDs on ebay and whatnot.. but occasionally, for that must-have movie, I will fork out the dough. what disturbs me, however, is that many of the movies I would be willing to pay greatly for have never been released on DVD! sure, I can find a billion worthless DVDs, made by every company that could possibly produce something on DVD media, but I want my favorite movies to be released on DVD!

I’m sure many of you have heard that the Star Wars movies are finally being released to DVD. the three original movies were earthshaking blockbusters, that are still revered by some as some of the best films every made. and now, at least 26 years after the first movie was released, it’s coming to DVD? sure, maybe it’ll cause a bunch of people to fork out the cash for a big boxed set, but the wait still seems ridiculous, to me.

as for some other films I’ve been seeking on DVD for some time now..

Freaked - a billiantly stupid sci-fi comedy that I feel I require on DVD format to sustain my existance. please, if you have ever seen and enjoyed this movie, sign this petition to 20th Century Fox Home Video to release it on DVD in the US (it was released in Germany under the title Freaks, but I shouldn’t need to convert my money to Euros and spend an arm, leg and half a brain on shipping to get it). I’m glad there are others that have love for this film.

Little Monsters - this movie is simply amazing, right? I can’t explain to you how I’ve desired this movie for my DVD collection. well, with its awesomeness comes a sigh of relief–it’s due to be released on DVD on April 6th 2004! about fucking time, you MGM bastards! hehe.

well, there have been many others I have scoured the internet and stores for but have had no success in finding, but I honestly can’t recall what they are (gee, they must be really important to me then, right? ;]) the bottom line is that I want to have a long-lasting copy of my favorite movies to share with the children of the future, as we zoom around in our flying cars, to our highly elevated dome-shaped home. unfortunately the Mr. Spacley’s of the entertainment industry want us to have nothning more than a robotic maid and a talking dog. maybe I’ll start using Cogswell’s Coggs instead of Spacley’s Sprockets, and then we’ll see who’s laughing.

a look at Chernobyl today

Posted Saturday, March 6, 2004 by justin

as quoted from slashdot:

abysmilliard writes “A young Ukrainian woman has posted a photo journal of her motorcycle rides through Chernobyl and the area surrounding it. Included are pictures of the now-emptied city, maps of current radiation levels, and a discussion of how the area has changed. While the english is quite broken, it’s often rather surreal, as well, with quotes like, ‘I don’t know how sound the silence to those tourists that they can not stand it, but to me after hitting a red line on my bike tacho it sound like all those ghosts cursing 1100cc kawasaki engin.’”

happy leap day! (introducing the longest post yet!)

Posted Sunday, February 29, 2004 by justin

An abundance on links can be found on Google dealing with the whole leap year principle, but I found this one quite entertaining, the Leap Year FAQ (Frequently Argued Question).

This is nearly as exciting as the time a fellow named Robert Woodside, who’s hobby was “reckoning time,” e-mailed me about a slight problem with the Y3K countdown that my homepage used to contain. since I am the one and only digital packrat, I shall share with you some of our correspondence:

From: Robert Anthony Woodside
To: jubjub@telenet.net
Subject: y3k countdown (really?)

Looking at your clock, I find a promise of 33 days this month… Perhaps
you have some residual days in your beancounter class? Maybe, it
neglects
to account that this year, and the year 2400, and the year 2800 are leap
years? As for the fourth bonus day, I suggest you change your target
date to expiry -> 01/01/3000 00:00:00 (and not 24:00:00 — a
non-existant time)

33 days? hehe, that is a problem :) oddly, even if i try to count down to next febuary (2001), it gives me 33 days for this month. i didn’t write this little nugget of non-y2/3k-compliant programming, so i’ll need to find something else (since i know nothing about java or calendar algorithms). the 00:00:00 suggestion did work, however. thanks alot for actually noticing this, it didn’t occur to me to even think about the possibility that it wasn’t right :)

and, i assume you emailed jubjub@telenet.net because of the url of the homepage. do you know how many people wouldn’t have realized to do that, even if they had noticed my defunct counter? :) anyway, thanks a lot.

actually! i was just thinking about it.. take this for example:

365003 is the number of days from, 2000 to 3000, right? well, perhaps, since i dont know how this counter is actually writen, it accounts for the extra leap years by adding them to the day total. although this isn’t how we normally think of it (and it is basically wrong), it’s close enough for me :) since it does account for the extra three leap years by adding the three days, so (365 * 997) + (366 * 3) = 365003. i don’t know if what i say justifies that it’s working or proves it isn’t. oh well, heh.

hell! i’ve thought about this too long. i’ll see if i can locate another counter that’ll work more effectively in the mean time. :) thank again.

Actually, Justin, time reckoning is something I study as a hobby. Your reply
and curiosity provides me much gratification. I found two such erroneous
applications yesterday, and perhaps the identity of the other miscreant
will show you that you are in notable company. (He was the dean of the
mathematics college and the head of the computer science department at a
significant Canadian institution).

Just to give you a small sample of calendary logic, the currently
employed Gregorian calendar year (well, generally used, but not globally) is
relatively simple.

/* begin pseudo code for Gregorian reckoning system */

pseudoBooleanFunction IsYearStandard( integer yearInQuestion )
{
/* if the year is not divisible by four, it is standard */
/* modulo operator returns an integer remainder of division */
if ( (yearInQuestion modulo 4) > 0 ) return true;

/* if the year is not centurial it is a leap year */
if ( (yearInQuestion modulo 100) > 0 ) return false;

/* if a centurial year is not evenly divisible by 400 */
/* it is a standard year */
if ( (yearInQuestion modulo 400) > 0 ) return true;

/* all remaining centurial years are leap years */
return false;
}

/* caveat, use 0 for January, 1 for February… */
pseudoIntegerFunction DaysInMonth( integer monthInQuestion,
integer yearInQuestion )
{
/* First, there’s February with 29 days */
/* when it is not a standard year */
if ( (monthInQuestion == 1) and IsYearStandard( yearInQuestion) )
return 28;
if ( monthInQuestion == 1 )
return 29;

/* All other months are filtered by a cute modulo relationship */
/* the test catches 3, 5, 8, 10 or April, June, September */
/* and November */
if ( ((monthInQuestion modulo 7) modulo 2) > 0 ) return 30;

/* all the rest have 31 days */
return 31;
}

pseudoIntegerFunction DaysInYear( integer yearInQuestion )
{
/* Most years are 365 days */
if ( IsYearStandard( yearInQuestion ) ) return 365;

/* we have a leap day, this time */
return 366;
}

/* end pseudo code for Gregorian reckoning system */

By applying the above algorithm, you will find 253 leap years from
(inclusive) 2000 until (exclusive) 3000. 1000 * 365 + 253 = 365253 days from
(inclusive) Jan 1, 2000 until (exclusive) Jan 1, 3000.

Now, this does not include intercalary seconds (as the one added to the
year 1998 — December 31, 1998 ended at 11:59 and 60 saeconds PM); nor
does it account for date corrections that will be necessary when the
Gregorian drift error becomes significant.

Hope I haven’t bored you… In knowledge, there is power.

——————————————– I replied:

i find it amazingly curious that someone that just happens to study time reckoning as a hobby noticed a webpage i put up on a whim :) i am, in fact, curious about this since i have been taking computer programming in high school for several years (i’m a senior, at the moment). i plan on majoring in comp sci in college, also.

it’s odd that you sent me this, since i have actually wondered how this kind of thing is done, but never really looked into it that much. the algorithms and code i’ve seen for things like calculating which day of the week a certain date falls on, are a bit long and i haven’t really taken time to go through them. this, though, is pretty much self explainitory to me.

if it isn’t too much trouble, if you have any other spare algorithms or code examples for this type of thing, i’d appreciate if you could email me them. if it’s any trouble, though, i’m sure i can find some on my own. any suggestions on where i can learn more on this subject?

we’ll, thank’s again, Woody. i’m glad i have a little something to think about. :)

Justin, as for giving you code samples and algorithms, I’ve no problem
doing that. I am employed as a software engineer for a wireless
communication survey company, so I have *lots* of code that I develop.
I’ll be most happy to help that way.

To the point of determining the day of the week that a certain date falls
on… I have such code stiiting around, but I can’t get my hands on it at
the moment. Let me look for it and I’ll send later.

Computer Science? I just graduated from NCSU (Raleigh, NC, USA) three
years ago with a BS in Computer Science. That is a natural for me, I’ve
been building and programming logic circuits since 1963 (when I was eight
or nine) but I got a late start into academics — school has always seemed
a waste of time for me, since information is available to anybody with
sufficient curiosity and resourcefullness. Fortunately, I woke up sometime
in my late thirties and changed my attitude about education and mental
exercise.

If I assume you want an algorith for dates based on the Gregorian
Calendar, as deployed in the USA, the algorithm for date/day reckoning is
trivial. I’ll write you one out during lunch — later today.

For your enjoyment and enlightenment, you might want to visit the

As a long time Lord of the Rings fan i had to go and see Return of the King and all and boy was i suprised, some could say they just butchered the book, i on the other hand haveto say they took the book shreaded it pissed on it and then droped it into a hole while yelling “LALALA FUCK THE FANS!”, but then what do you expect from the man that directed Meet the Feebles.

I would not be in the least suprised if the headlines soon read “Peter Jackson strangled by J.R.R. Tolkien’s Ghost”.

But then it was better than Star Wars: Episode 1.

I was randomly browsing around, and being that it was just World Aids Day, I came accross a link to FightAIDS@Home. This a program similar to the popular SETI@Home that uses your computer’s unused CPU cycles to assist in a giant distributed computing scheme to help with research.

aftering being reminded of SETI@Home, I decided to download SETI and install it, to get it rolling (since I will obviously find aliens first). after a bit of boredom, and annoyance that SETI@Home’s servers were down (making it impossible to actually usetilize my account which I’ve had for 2.293 years without use), I decided to try FightAIDS@Home. well, their site seems to be in the middle of a move, and many of the links are broken, and there isn’t a nifty screensave like SETI@Home has (at least not that I could easilly locate), but it’s for a worth cause.

anyway, I suggest you peoples checks it outs!@ I also added a nifty little banner on the left, cobbing up some bad CSS to put it there!

edit: oh yeah! I might as well mention Folding@HOME while I’m at it :]

Posted Sunday, November 9, 2003 by justin

I changed the posts from the news page to archive, since it looked sort of cluttered. I have yet to tackle the actual page design, so it looks relatively normal in lower resolutions. I will someday. it’s not really that much of a problem, as long as there are no giant images displayed in the center area. right now I’m testing it out with 800×600, and it looks fine. damn wide images! damn them to hell! 800×600 makes my text look really cool. I wish it looked this cool in 1600×1200 :/

edit: well, I’ve been playing around with the css, so if the site looks weird or broken, that’s how it’s supposed to be, god dammit.

edit2: alright, fuck this. I’m going to redo the css tomorrow, and get rid of all the fucked up resizing shit that isn’t working right (especially from IE6 to Mozilla).

the sine function owns you.

ooh, I almost forgot. I was very pleased to find that Fractint, the first fractal program I ever stumbled upon, is still around. unfortuantely, Fractint is for DOS. buut! I found this other neat program called MANPWIN that’s loosely based on Fractint, which I happened to use to make the nifty fractal to the right.

I feel for Lenny Bruce

due to having nothing else to post, I just wanted to mention a great documentary on Lenny Bruce that’s on the Sundance Channel (which I happily noticed for the first time today–I haven’t had digital cable with it’s 2349^4 channels for very long). it’s called “Lenny Bruce: Swear to Tell the Truth,” and is the director’s cut version of the film.

if you’ve ever wanted to know more about Bruce, this is just the thing. it really an amazing thing to watch, especially for those who maybe haven’t heard his story, bringing you through his career and life with great detail.

anyway.. check it out! Sundance channel! here’s the schedule from http://www.sundancefilm.com/schedule/ (which is where I also borrowed the handy image to the right. please don’t sue me, I meant well).

pwnd.
who knew I could waste that many hours accomplishing what many would consider next to nothing. luckily, I also avoided adding any content. close call on that one, lemme tell ya.

I rewrote the css to make this shi–er, um, incomparable internet wonderland look reasonably not-shitty in mozilla (since I happened to have that installed). hopefully that means it looks nice for other browsers (although that would be too good to be true). the only problem in mozilla is the header bar.. damn thing is a different size. *cry* I’ll work on that later.. and attempt to make the damn page more easilly viewable in 800×600, since that would be cool (at least in my mind). yeah.. I resized your damn giant full metal jacket image jim.. since it was giant and was angering me as I viewed the page in 800×600, haha. :]

hmm image posting in this thinger should work alright now. yeah. jim and sean.. if you wanna, you can use the postimg class for the images you post. it makes them prettiririrer by adding a border and margins.

ooh, and I added that nice little tagline up top. how really and amazingly cool, huh?

oh yeah, go me:

Valid CSS!

though I technically went to bed several hours ago (ie set my AIM away message, haha), I have been meandering through various websites, like http://www.waxy.org, pondering what to do this quaint little pit-of-nothingness I like to call gonad.org.

first of all, this new design is much better than the old design, obviously. unfortunately, it still carries the lack of content along with it. secondly, I am displeased with the php I threw together in the anticipation of content. I was looking for an easy and convenient way to maintain whatever was going to be here, but I’m finding that hard to do without knowing what that ‘whatever’ is, hehe.

I wish someone would post a comment in the spamments box over there –> (with the broken link at the bottom that I have yet to fix, jim :P) mentioning what I should put on here.

doodoodoo.. sleepy time.

to quote church lady from snl, “well isn’t that special.” that is what i expect each of you to say as you first discover this new site design, featuring even less content than before! well, that isn’t really possible, but that’s what i’m going for.

first of all, i’d like to thank jim, who came up with this new design, and spent endless eons locked in his dorm room writing html and css. i shit you not, my friends!

and btw, danny donaduce whoop yo ass!

[…] I’ve finally taken the time to smack (nearly) all the old posts, that were lost from this site over a year ago. Sure, I could have converted them to actual posts instead of just putting them in a giant, ugly page, but that takes effort (and actually seems ridiculous and useless, dispite my joy of ridiculousness piled atop uselessness). Soon after the top-most post on this page, due to a catastrophic, world-ending event (the server ran out of disk space due to my needless image uploading page.. that ironically had outlived this non-content until now), the follow posts were lost to the past.
